We Need Your Help!
Due to the ever increasing advances in health care there is an escalating demand on NHS services for medications and therefore prescriptions. We are one of the few remaining practices that still offer telephone requests for repeat medications and we are trying to retain this service. However the current demand for prescriptions is making it difficult to continue to provide a high quality service. We would therefore like to encourage anyone who is able and willing to use other means to order their prescriptions to do so. This will mean we can continue to offer a telephone service for those patients who rely on it and also as a means to deal with more complex requests.
We would like to increase the number of patients using our website to order routine repeat prescriptions as this is efficient and convenient for both patients and the practice.
Ways that we are happy to receive requests:
- Online via our website www.westgatesurgery.com all you need to do to register is present some photo ID at the reception desk to obtain an access code
- On paper– either by post, through our letterbox or in the blue box on the reception desk. It is always preferable if paper requests are made using the prescription counterfoil. We are happy for patients to write other requests on the bottom of the slips but please be aware that all items not on repeat will take longer to deal with.
- Via the chemist– this is a service offered by all of the chemists in Otley and needs to be discussed directly with the pharmacy of your choice. Prescriptions can be sent electronically to the pharmacy – please speak to your chosen pharmacy.
- By telephone between 1.30-3.00pm only on 01943 660533. Please ONLY use this service if unable to use one of the above methods or for complex or non-repeat prescription requests.
We always endeavour to deal with prescription requests promptly but please order about a week (5 working days) before you will actually run out if possible to avoid urgent demands on the service and if your prescriptions are going direct to the chemist it is best to allow an extra day when using this service.
Many thanks for your help with this.
